Everyone got up late but it was no problem because today we were going to have our farewell lunch with all the family and friends. We were the last to arrive at the Walnut Tree in Wakefield. We had only met these people two weeks before and in that short time we had been treated like family and had come to know and care for them all. Lunch was a long drawn out affair with lots of chatting and changing of seats so that everyone had a chance to catch up with everyone. Amazingly it was about five o’clock when we left, with Rohan, Kerry, Jo and Chris coming back to Maureen’s house too. Joanne had brought her photo album with her and it was fascinating to see the people we knew at different stages of their lives. After a while Steff arrived to take Maureen to Bingo and Dean for an evening with Jimmy. The rest of us relaxed together for a while and eventually the others left and we had a snack before bed. It was a very enjoyable but low key day and we really appreciated the opportunity to have a final meal with everyone. Most said that they would drop in again on the Tuesday evening just to say good-bye before we caught the train to London on Wednesday morning.
